Diversity and inclusion

When Anthony Jenkins, our CEO of Barclays Retail and Business Banking, delivered a keynote speech at the Stonewall Workplace Conference in March 2010, we were proud to be sponsors of the event.

To us, Diversity and Inclusion are far more than just words on paper, which is why we in RBB Technology have a dedicated Diversity and Inclusion Council, and a range of groups that can offer support and advice, and drive change.

Those groups are dedicated to women in technology, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, cultural and age diversity, working parents and carers, and disability to name a few. Each one actively contributes to making life in technology the best it can be.

We’ve also recently held our second annual D&I week.  Our theme this year was ‘D&I is part of our DNA’ and featured a number of events for colleagues as well as activities for line managers to complete with their teams.

The events included a kick off call with senior leaders, panel sessions on gender, a fun culture quiz to test knowledge about our global locations, two sessions by an external coach on succeeding as a working parent or carer, an external speaker who held a session on diversity of thought, while our keynote speaker, Rugby Welsh International Gareth Thomas – the only openly gay man in rugby – took part in a three-hour workshop.

D&I clearly means a lot to us. Here at Barclays we respect and value people from all backgrounds and we’re committed to excellence in Equality & Diversity policies and practice. We’ll judge you on your ability and nothing else.
