IT Asset, Configuration and Licence Manager, UK
Since joining Barclays eight years ago, I’ve had five different roles, proving there’s always opportunity for progression. After the first few I took on the role of IT Asset, Configuration and Licence Manager within the Windows Server platform. I had a bed of knowledge on which to build and the role was extremely challenging, especially as I was responsible for the asset inventory and software compliance of all RBB’s Windows servers globally.
Following a team merger, I took responsibility for the asset inventory of RBB’s Windows servers, desktops/laptops, blackberries and network printers, again globally.
In terms of projects, a recent review of our global Microsoft licencing strategy pulled together people from a wide variety of areas such as Vendor Management, Global Sourcing, and our Solutions Engineering teams, each bringing their own knowledge and qualities to the table, but collectively working together to reach decisions and conclusions.
RBB Technology feels like the heart of banking – without technology, it wouldn’t happen! It’s also fast-paced and ever evolving, but a good balance between doing the job quickly and doing it well is encouraged, with as much emphasis on behaviours as deliverables. As for my future here, it could easily take me in a number of directions such as Vendor Management, Asset and Licencing in a different technology function, or something like Service Management.
